With apples being in season, going for a trip out to the country to a sweet-smelling orchard can be a great family outing. And it’s true what they say about an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Apples have a unique quality to them in that they contain pectin, a unique gel-forming fiber that helps control plaque build-up in the vascular system and prevent heart disease. Recently, scientists have discovered a chemical in apple skin that can slow the aging of muscle tissue and stop muscle wasting.
